Adopt a Pug (short coat)

Pug (short coat) Dog

Moose & Moxie | PRONE Care Pugs the Dog needs a home

Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization.

Say hello to Moxie & Moose. This bonded pair of seniors have been enjoying the good life up in Maine, relaxing and hanging out with their foster family. They both get along fine with other dogs. They are somewhat shy around new people. But once warmed up they are good. :)

Moxie: Oh. Moxie. She's a cutie, and is a bit of a cranky girl when she wants to be. She's opinionated, with things to tell you. Like barking to alert you that a new person is around - or maybe an old person she KNOWS - but she still needs to tell you that! She took a while (like a few months) to let her guard down and settle into her foster home - so transitions take more time for her. She'll require patience and persistence - but once she decides she likes you? She LOVES you! She has a few physical limitations (which doesn't seem to affect her ability to be a curdmudgeon!) - she is losing some mobility in her legs. We were told by the vet that it's neurological. So sometimes she drags her feet if she cannot get them under her. She doesn't realize she has to poop til she starts to poop and she's nearly always on the move when that happens. Though she's regular like clockwork - and the poop is solid and easy to clean-up. She is housetrained, though - and pees outside on her own. She's got a sweet little muppet face and really wants to stay with her BFF Moose.

MOOSE: What a handsome, senior goof ball this boy is! He's housetrained, and quicker to settle than Moxie. He gets along fine with other dogs and loves to snooze the day away. He's exhibited some separation anxiety in his foster home - so an adopter who works PT might be an ideal adopter for them.

They are both UTD on shots, and spayed/neutered. They were given up when their family expanded and didn't have the time they knew they deserved.

AN IDEAL HOME: These two need a family who is devoted to them. What pug doesn't need that?! Someone who has some experience with mobility issues would be great (though if you are interested, it's not hard to learn about it), maybe in a family where there is someone around a lot for these two (working PT, etc). And because they may take more time than the average pug to adjust, we feel a home with older children, or no children best suits them. Mostly they need someone with patience and undying love for them. They will return it tenfold.

Moxie & Moose's adoption fee is $300.

Because of your continued support, PRONE is able to save pugs like Moxie & Moose.

Thank you.
